Kennedy Space Center guide: the Saturn V at the Apollo/Saturn V Center, Space Shuttle Atlantis, the bus tour, the Rocket Garden, Gateway, watching a launch, tickets and how much time to plan.

What to expect

The visitor complex on Florida’s Space Coast is the public gateway to the launch site of the Apollo missions to the Moon and of the Space Shuttle, and rockets still lift off from the Cape almost every week.

Space Shuttle Atlantis is displayed as if in orbit, tilted with its payload doors open, and the bus tour leads past the huge Vehicle Assembly Building to the Apollo/Saturn V Center, where a real Saturn V rocket, 111 meters long, hangs overhead.

The Rocket Garden shows early rockets standing upright, and Gateway: The Deep Space Launch Complex presents today’s spacecraft. With the right timing, you can watch a launch from the complex or from nearby beaches.

Plan a full day; the complex is about an hour by car from Orlando.
